As we all stopped at the chain break I told Graham I have to get home to get my daughter, Not long after that I saw some riders with numbers on their backs, I caught them up and as I went past the front bloke I looked at him he looked at me, blimey havnt seen you in ages last I saw you you had emigrated to canada. He was an ex paratrooper who I cycled atlantic to the med with over the pyrenees, small world . We both carried on chatting then one of those with him said slow down, I said I have done nearly 50, they said yes but we have come from Bristol this morning, I went on with them to nearly their destination Kempton park. All in all a good day old friends and hanging off the back of the speedier gang

Definitely shouldn't use carbon clinchers in the mountains!

Whilst decending Mount Seleve nr. Geneve on the Tour des Cols, One of the guys wrecked a
front carbon clincher wheel when it overheated and the rim expanded into a bulge.
Steel would not have done that. This is the main reason tour riders run tubs.   So no its not! in this case.

But catch you we did Graham!

Paul estimated you had 4 minutes on us by the time we got going at Remenham. The pace was quick, touching 38mph on Drift Rd just before we bridged up.

Mick -- hope your dodgy cassette held out and you got home OK.
