Last friday I finally recieved from work what I have been dreading for the last 8 months, my new working paterns for the shift style work that will commence from the 1st August 2010. Sad

This reads nothing short of A HORROR STORY, >Cheesy and means that I will no longer be able to race for the club at  weekends or even during the week for most of the month. For the 52 weeks that exist in the year, I will be working or have some kind of disruption preventing me to enter races for 40 weeks of that year, 22 of them are throught the summer months, which is basically the whole season. Cry Sad

It will also be difficult to do any form of training as I will be for at least half of each month working a shift that  will prevent me from even getting near a bike.

Its difficult for me to explain how all this works, as I dont have a week or to to write it down, and it is very complicated to explain.

Somehow my place of work seems to think that its employees are robots, and has completely ruined everthing that I worked hard for, but hey, what do they care.

I will however, endeaver to try and keep riding a bike and keep my fitness up, because there is always next year.

Once I have found some where else to live and another job,,,,,, I will be back. Cry

Rough luck, Paul. Sounds like a nightmare for you. After a compulsory transfer I was very unhappy with my conditions at work, and felt compelled to retire a year earlier than I was really prepared for. Fortunately, things have worked out well for me after all - I hope they do for you, and that you're able to find something that suits you

Sorry to hear this Paul.

What has happened to you sounds typical of modern employment practice. Only those at the very top seem to be valued and the attitude to everyone else is - plenty more where they came from. The net result is that nothing works properly but the big cheese still gets his bonus.

I was quite depressed after being made redundant in the late nineties, but generally I think it's been a good thing for me, although I have had to put effort into not spending money.

Until you can find something better to do let me refer you to the well known spoof latin proverb: Non illegitimi carborundum (don't let the bastards grind you down)

Chris.

Brings to mind Norman Tebbit's famous quote from the Thatcher era - "Get on yer bike".    Angry
